So were you looking for a good college, in a nice place, that is affordable to attend? You might want to consider coming to Casper College. Casper College is in Casper, Wyoming, a city of about 50,000 people, 5,100 feet high, right in the middle of Wyoming, a state that boasts the smallest population in the United States. Wyoming's economy is largely dependent on minerals (coal, petroleum, bentonite, trona, etc.), ranching and tourism, but increasingly high tech firms are finding their way into this state because of its highly educated population and pro-business attitude, not to mention the absence of state income taxes. Wyoming is the leading exporter of coal in the United States and said to have enough coal to meet the needs of the United States for 200 years.
Casper lays alongside a an 8000 foot high mountain here in the Rockies called Casper Mountain (naturally) and has a river flowing through it called the North Platte. The North Platte is a wonderful place to canoe and fish. We also have a white water kayak park right in the middle of town on the Platte River. The fishing on the Platte is excellent and 70 miles south of town it so good, it is called the "Miracle Mile." Casper Mountain is large enough to host camping areas and a ski area. Hogadon Ski area is just 7 miles from town. In the winter, people can still drive to the top of the mountain and go inner tubing, sledding, and snowmobiling. Casper has a vast cross country ski area on Casper Mountain which boasts well groomed trails which are even lit at night. Casper Mountain a great place to go hiking, picnicking, and to look for wild life. Casper Mountain even has a bird sanctuary that can be visited and a an archery range for archery enthusiasts.

Three miles out of town, Casper has a natural waterfall that has a drop of over 50 feet called Garden Creek Falls. Thirty miles from town we have Alcova reservoir, an excellent place to go fishing, swimming, boating, and even sailing. Alcova has magnificent rocks that ring this reservoir which in part snakes through the breathtaking 3 mile long canyon. Wyoming is famous for it's archeological record, particularly for finding dinosaur fossils. At Alcova, numerous dinosaurs have been excavated, and there is even a place that is called the dinosaur trail where to this day you can walk and see fossil remains that goes back even before the dinosaurs when Alcova and much of Wyoming were underwater in the Inland Sea and also find dinosaur bones. Throughout Wyoming there are places where you can find semi precious stones like jade, agate, feldspar, and jasper and most recently opals on Beaver Rim. There are old ghost towns like South Pass and Atlantic City where gold rushes occurred where you can still pan for gold. In Casper, there once was an old frontier fort, called Fort Caspar, which has been restored from a hundred years ago, when it was the subject of a number of skirmishes with Native Americans in the area.
